We measure the energy, food, and travel emissions associated with TEDxVictoria and offset these impacts through the Great Bear Forest Carbon Project.
Each year, with the support of Victoria-based Synergy Enterprises, we build on our learnings to embed sustainability even deeper into our planning – helping us better track and identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions.
Victoria is known for being one of the most walkable and bikeable cities in Canada. Please consider choosing low-impact travel such as walking, cycling, scootering, or taking public transit. Carpooling and ridesharing are other great alternatives to driving.
We’re doing our best to minimize the impact of single-use items. Please help us reduce waste by bringing your own:
Programs are limited and made from recycled materials, please take only one. For a digital schedule, scan the QR code on your lanyard.
Water refill stations are available throughout the venue and are easily accessible. Please bring your own bottle!
Visit our coffee and tea partners on-site for fair-trade drinks. Bring a mug that reseals for inside the theatre.
Eco-friendly packaging, sorting stations, and opt-in to recycle your lanyard at the end of the day.
You will have 75 minutes to eat and recharge with a variety of locally sourced meal options available on-site. Our vendors support our efforts by offering low-carbon menu choices that consider a variety of dietary considerations.
Choosing plant-based or low-carbon meals (like chicken) cuts food-related emissions, often the second-largest source!
On your way out, look for the marked box near the front door. Drop off your lanyard, scan the QR code, and select which cause you’d like to support. For every lanyard returned, we’ll reinvest the cost saved by covering the cost of tickets for our selected community partners.
In 2025, we recovered 80% of lanyards, allowing us to redistribute over $1000 amongst the three organizations below..
